Slide up braids

I've written about Monday morning hairstyles before - easy hairstyles that don't take a lot of time, but still look fun. The slide up braid is such a braid.

The name of the braid - slide up braid - pretty much tells you what the braid is: first you'll do a normal braid, then you'll hold one of the strands and you'll slide the braid up. That creates a very unique look.

The easiest slide up braid is the one with 3 strands. Those of you who want a little more of a challenge, can try the slide up braid with 4 strands. For both braids I'm advising to do them with wet hair, because this gives you the least amount of fly-aways. Another important thing is trying to braid loosely, so the sliding up part is easier.

Anyone wishing to mix things up a little in a slide up braid, can add a ribbon. Especially the 4 strand slide up braid looks great with ribbon. And for those of you looking for a challenge, there's the 6 strand ribbon slide up braid, which I'm explaining in my latest YouTube tutorial. This may look like a tricky braid, but personally I always find it easier to braid with ribbon: because of the ribbon it's easier to tell the strands apart.
