Where to place a braid

Those of you who start braiding, will soon discover the possibilities are almost endless. You can do different braiding techniques, do different combinations, use bows / flowers etc., ribbon... Just like that you can already create millions of different hairstyles. And then you can choose where to place a braid...

The most well-known placed braids are the headband braids: braids close to the forehead so they look like a headband. But when you're braiding with all of the hair, you can choose where to place a braid as well: in the middle of the head (which is done most often) or at the side (left or right). The side braid is the more advanced version here as it can be tricky to add in the hair (when doing a French / Dutch braid) from one side all the way to the other side.

Also when you're doing two braids you can choose where to place them. Most hairstyles with two braids have the braids at the side of the head, but why not place them in the middle, close together? The hairstyle in the photo for example is made out of two Dutch braids close together in the middle of the head. A simple, basic hairstyle, but the placement makes the style a little different than usual!
